Seattle, WA March 18th, 2011
Ratio Interactive is excited to announce the launch of the “iCookbook” iPad application now available for sale in the App Store. iCookbook is a new way for users to find, choose and prepare recipes. Featuring over 2000 recipes with amazing photography, scalable ingredients, and easy to follow preparation steps, iCookbook sets a new standard in Recipe and Cookbook applications for the iOS platform.
Ratio Interactive lead the development of this ground-breaking application with renowned publisher Publications International who leveraged a team of food experts and industry professionals to create and app that is both inspirational and functional. If you like to cook or want to find great new meal ideas this is a must-have app.
“I interviewed a number of app developers from all over the United States”, said Jerry Croft, President of the Digital and Cooking division at PIL, “and decided to go with Seattle based Ratio Interactive. I knew that the team at PIL were experts in the cooking space, but we needed to align with experts in the mobile space and Ratio went above and beyond the call to meet that challenge. They listened and adopted our project as their own and helped us develop the first cooking app to use voice commands to name just one of the many cool features. Ratio, and their team of developers and product managers worked hard to bridge the 1,700 mile distance between Seattle and Chicago and make us feel as if they were right down the hall”.
iCookbook is a complete recipe application: offering users a rich visual interface to find and select from 2000 recipes and add their own, scale ingredients, create shopping lists, and share recipes via email and Facebook. The application also includes integration with AirPrint so users can print recipes and shopping lists wirelessly from their iPads. But it’s the Voice Command feature in Prepare mode that really sets the app apart, using simple voice commands users can step through the preparation of a recipe “hands-free” and keep their screens clean.
“We really enjoyed the challenge of this project,” Paul Kim, Founder of Ratio Interactive noted, “in creating a Cookbook that really extended the capabilities of the iPad while showcasing the volume of recipes and amazing photography from PIL. We are excited to leverage our experience in creating powerful user experiences in the mobile space.”
